A Charming Rustic Wedding at Trail Creek Ranch in Wilson, Wyoming

Inspired by the natural beauty of their wedding’s serene outdoor setting, Sara Slade and Frank Royster planned a rustic summer fete with an eclectic mix of feminine and organic accents.

“Our guests all traveled from other states, and very few had been to Jackson or even Wyoming before,” Sara says. “We really wanted to illustrate how much the area meant to us and to honor Wyoming’s heritage.” The venue itself put the state’s beauty on show and featured a historic barn that allowed guests to mix and mingle with the ranch’s 20 horses during cocktail hour. Elements that could have been found at the ranch, such as feathers, cattails and deer antlers, were incorporated into the flower arrangements.

After the short-and-sweet ceremony that was officiated by a close friend, Sara and Frank joined their guests under an expansive open-air tent for the reception. Wood farm tables paired with mismatched chairs and colorful hand-sewn bunting made by Sara’s mother lent the evening an intimate, down-home feel.

Cupcakes, sugar cookies and assorted tarts took the place of traditional wedding cakes for dessert, and the newlyweds sent guests home with jars of honey harvested from Sara’s own bees.
