A Charming Fall Wedding at Woodlawn in Alexandria, Virginia
A warm fall palette of reds, yellows and oranges blended with the surrounding environment at Woodlawn in Alexandria, Virginia, where Christine Faller (30 and a lawyer) and John Annand (31 and a lawyer) held their outdoor wedding filled with elegance and charm. "We wanted to get married in Virginia where we live, and loved the beautiful grounds and history of Woodlawn," Christine says. "With the ceremony outdoors and the reception in a tent, we wanted to incorporate natural elements throughout the design." And they did—starting with the ceremony, which took place in front of the Woodlawn estate rich with history. Christine and John shared their first kiss under the wrought iron arbor covered in roses, dahlias, berries, vines and curly willow (thanks, Growing Wild Floral). The bridesmaids wore floor-length deep red dresses with different necklines, while the groomsmen wore classic charcoal suits with salmon-colored ties—both complementing the surrounding seasonal hues. Tan linens covered long dining tables with white-petal china and burgundy napkins, decorated with fall floral centerpieces arranged inside metal vessels and wooden boxes. A personal touch that had us swooning were shawls hung on the back of every women's seat who attended, hand-knitted by Christine's mother and captured on camera by Eli Turner Studios. A tip from Christine: "In the end, the most important thing is the love, both between the bride and groom and among all the family and friends gathered to celebrate together."
