A Casual, Modern City Hall Wedding and Restaurant Reception at Gran Electra in Brooklyn, New York

The wedding of Cara Blue Adams and Cam Terwilliger spanned two days. On the first day, Friday, "we did the official part at City Hall in a low-key event with a few friends we called that week, including two who had gotten married there themselves, followed by a confetti toss organized by our amazing photographer," Cara says. On Saturday they held a ceremony at New York Marble Cemetery in Manhattan's East Village. The venue has arched iron gates, old stone walls, weathered wood benches and flowering bushes—all of which doubled as décor. "We imagined a bohemian garden party that was laid-back and fun, and we went from there," Cara says. "Our color palette focused on greens, creams, peaches, corals, oranges and apricots, with touches of blue and shots of pinks." During the Quaker-inspired ceremony, guests sat in a silent circle around the couple until someone felt moved to speak about thoughts, memories and advice. "One of the best things about the day was how much everyone talked and laughed during the ceremony. People started telling stories immediately, and it was so fun to hear what everyone had to say," Cara says. The reception took place at Gran Electrica, a farm-to-table Mexican restaurant in Dumbo, Brooklyn. "The vibe is fun and elegant, like a paradise full of greenery," Cara says. The restaurant's decorations included leafy plants in terra-cotta pots, string lights and exposed brick siding. Each guest had a menu with handmade chili-lime lollipops from Roni-Sue’s, a confectioner in the East Village. They also drank margaritas and ate foods like mini memelitas, queso fundido, tacos and churros.
