A Cat Made an Appearance at This Wedding at New Liberty Distillery in Philadelphia
Kelly Kurteson (30 and a retoucher at Anthropologie) and Michael Cammarata (28 and a musician) have a way of making something old into something new. Exhibit A: Michael proposed with a repurposed ring made from his grandmother’s diamond and Kelly’s great aunt’s ring setting. The pair looked to the past for wedding design inspo. “Our style is a mix of contemporary and ’70s glam,” Kelly says. Cool style (like Michael’s bolo tie), classic tunes and shades of red filled the day.
Kelly and Michael’s cat Kevin not only played a starring role in their engagement, but also joined in on the fun during their wedding celebration. Playful illustrations of the couple’s cats welcomed guests to the ceremony at New Liberty Distillery, framed by deep red roses, dahlias and cascading greenery.
When it came to the party, Kelly and Michael kept their decorations minimal. “The distillery is in an old stable, so we wanted to let that shine through,” Kelly says. Partygoers sipped the aptly named Yada Yada Cammarata, a pomegranate and rose water drink inspired by the pair’s hashtag. At the reception, Kelly’s mom presented the newlyweds with a purrfect surprise: cookies baked to look like their cats. Later, the newlyweds cut into a rich coconut cake complete with strawberry compote, mascarpone whip and vanilla buttercream.
