A Casual, Whimsical Wedding at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, Connecticut
Wanting to have a wedding reflective of the small town in New Hampshire where they met, Lynman Woo (28 and a campaign manager with LinkedIn) and Jonathan Merten (28 and in sales with Google) decided to say their "I dos" at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, Connecticut. "New Haven was perfect for that cozy, small-town vibe that reflected where we met (Hanover, NH), and the carousel building was a rustic, whimsical dream," Lynman says. The wedding photographer, Donna Cheung Photography, captured the beautiful day from the beach ceremony to the indoor reception filled with bright colors. "The high ceiling, large windows, the white woodwork and the antique carousel were just the perfect background for the fun summer party we wanted for our wedding," Lynman says. While currently living in Singapore, Lynman and Jonathan faced the difficult task of planning an entire wedding from afar. In Singapore, Lynman explains, brides do not traditionally buy their own wedding dresses, so after trying on different styles while visiting the United States, she got in contact with an Etsy shop to design her column sheath wedding dress. Instead of a traditional veil, she had her florist, Branford Flower Shop, create a whimsical crown using yellow and green blooms. Lynman and Jonathan wanted their wedding to be casual with plenty of vibrant hues, choosing a palette of yellow and coral with gray. "Given the beach setting and that it was the summer, we wanted fun, lively colors that would go well against the white and blue of the carousel building," Lynman says. The bride's mother helped create the simpler centerpieces using various white and blue milk glasses that added dimension to the tables. At the end of the day, Lynman and Jonathan wanted their wedding to be a fun experience for everyone and a day during which they could really enjoy the time with their guests. "Since we lived so far away, we wanted the whole wedding to just feel like a big party with all of our family and close friends," Lynman says.
