A Casual Waterfront Wedding at The Bayside Grille in Key Largo, Florida
Brandon Harris (30 and a sales manager) proposed to Lily Harris (32 and an electronics assembler) about two years after they met at work. He said “My grandfather gave this ring to my grandmother and kept his promise to love and protect her until the day he died. I want to do the same with you. Will you be my wife?,” says Lily. The couple planned their waterfront wedding in Key Largo, Florida, over the next fifteen months. “I'm a huge beach lover and he enjoys visiting new places. Neither one of us had been there so it was a no brainer,” says Lily. When it came time to pick the color day’s palette, she chose one of her favorite colors, mint, as well as royal blue and white. The three colors as well as multiple themes were reflected in their decor. “I tried to keep the style as laid back as possible while incorporating a little bit of all my favorites: bohemian, beachy, farmhouse country and chic,” says Lily. “I chose a simple decor so that it would flow well with my simple outdoor locale.” White folding chairs and a simple white wedding arch decorated Lily and Brandon’s ceremony at the The Bayside Grille. Pops of royal blue were introduced in the the bridesmaid's maxi skirts as well as their beaded royal blue barefoot sandals. The groomsmen complemented them with neutral linen pants and guayaberas. “I'm of cuban descent so those four pocket cuban shirts were a must,” says Lily. The couple and their 94 guests went into the reception directly after the ceremony. White folding chairs were complemented with white linens. The couple served fried sweet plantains and conch fritter appetizers as well as a main course of mahi mahi, coconut rice, steamed vegetables and drunken chicken. For dessert, Lily and Brandon chose a naked rum cake, key lime tarts and red velvet cupcakes for their guests. “I think the best part of our wedding was that it was intimate,” says Lily. “We had plenty of time to talk and mingle with each and every one of our guests.”
