Susan Anderson (50, retired) and Avi Avivi (41, a Vice President in engineering) dated for three months before Avi found out that he was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer. After a full year of treatment, Avi had started to fully recover from the disease, and as a pair the couple felt stronger than ever before. When they had reached their three-year dating mark, Avi proposed to susan on her birthday at a restaurant, and so the couple began to plan their elegant but simple wedding they hoped for. Susan and Avi booked Byington Winery in Los Gatos, California with a gorgeous backdrop of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the distance. The couple picked an interlaced heart monogram to decorate the winery with in the color palette of different hued pinks, purples and blues. From the wedding stationary to the flower arrangements and bouquets, the couple held true to their wedding day colors that flourished throughout the space. “Our main focus was to have a relaxed dinner with great wine, food and friends,” says Susan. “Our reflection as a couple were the words we spoke from the heart to each other just before our vows.”

"I wore blush colored satin slippers with the blush gown, and white satin slippers with the second gown,” says Susan. “For the slippers I attached rhinestone shoe clips to have more sparkle.”

"We did not have a ring bearer, but we did have two flower girls who were sisters and friends of the family,” says Susan. “We found their matching dresses online as well as their flower baskets. “The ceremony was on wedding hill at Byington Winery, and the hill overlooks the Santa Cruz Mountains,” says Susan. “I chose two large arrangements of flowers, one on each side of the arbor with greenery and pink flowers across the top. I had a small pink tulip bouquets tied to every other chair on the wedding aisles.”

“The fingertip blush veil was by Katie Chin. I did add small rhinestones to the veil to have more sparkle,” says Susan. rnrn

“The winery was “Byington Winery,” says Susan. “The winery had a beautiful hill behind it for wedding ceremonies, overlooking the Santa Cruz Mountains. The location gave me the feeling as if I was on top of the world. The view is simply breathtaking!”
“The groom wore a blue tie and the groomsmen wore a mauve colored tie," says Susan. "Avi wore silver Celtic-like cufflinks and the groomsmen had traditional cufflinks.”

“We choose a heart theme with a mauve color for save-the-dates, and invitations,” says Susa. “The save-the-dates, invitations, reception cards, hotel information card and RSVP cards all matched with the same color and themes.”

The flower centerpieces were filled with an assortment of pink and coral flowers mixed in with greens and was positioned in the middle of a black tree branch holder. Several electric candles hung from the branches.
