A Casual Rustic Wedding at Stone Mountain Lodge and Cabins in Lyons, Colorado

Brianna Hall (24 and a project coordinator) and Brian Gillespie (25 and a lot technician) met working at Dairy Queen together when they were 16. Brianna went on to college at the University of Colorado and Brian joined the Army, but they continued dating long distance. Brian proposed with a giant carved watermelon that said, “Will you marry me, Brianna?” while they were on vacation in Jamaica. For their wedding, the couple wanted the perfect balance between casual and formal. They chose Stone Mountain Lodge and Cabins for its outdoor, mountain setting with a beautiful lake complete with ducks. “I love the down-home feeling of country charm and wanted our wedding to have a BBQ atmosphere without loosing the elegance everyone wants on their wedding day,” Brianna says. They used a red, white and blue color palette for their rustic Colorado wedding. Petals From Heaven created all of the lush floral arrangements, which Brianna completed with handmade blue paper flowers and red plastic flowers that were used to decorate the dinner table the night they were engaged, but were too expensive to order. The best part, though, was Brianna’s vintage wedding dress. It was created from a dress she picked out from David’s Bridal, but had it redone by Margaret at Yours Truly Design to include parts of her grandmother’s dress that her mother also also wore. For cocktail hour, Brianna and Brian had Colorado beer and wine tasting so guests could try some of the coupe’s local favorites. At the end of the night, they had a gorgeous rustic cake La Momo Maes Bakery (with strawberry filling!). “Our little bit country, little bit rock 'n roll, completely us-inspired wedding was everything we could have hoped for,” says Brianna.
