A Casual, Rustic Wedding at High Line Car House in Columbus, Ohio

Chris Ridenour (31 and a physical therapist) and Christina Hewitt (30 and a critical care nurse) sat on a nearby bench after taking a walk in the park one brisk morning. As they were enjoying the scenic views around them, Christina surprised Chris with an Ohio State sweatshirt and tickets to a game later on that day. Chris was thrilled and started slipping on the sweatshirt, which gave Christina the perfect opportunity to get down on one knee and propose. The couple had their wedding ceremony at Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle, Washington, since they couldn't get married legally in Ohio, but had the reception back in their home state to celebrate with friends and family. Chris wore an ivory wedding gown that resembled a Grecian style for the day's attire, while Christina wore a casual pair of pants and a jacket. The wedding reception took place at High Line Car House in Columbus, Ohio, not only because it was conveniently located near several hotel options for guests, but it had the casual yet classic look the couple had envisioned. The theme was based around book decor in accents of peach, coral, mint, teal and khaki. The venue was decked out in decor that reflected love of literature--from the heart confetti cut out of Jane Austin’s novels to Chris’s old dictionary used as a guest book, The idea came about because Chris’s mother was a schoolteacher, and she had passed away just a few years before. Instead of spending money on wedding favors, the couple decided to donate to her school’s memorial library book fund in memory of her life.
