A Casual, Rustic Wedding at Beano's Cabin in Avon, Colorado
Meghan MacMahon (31 and a second grade teacher) and James Iacino (31 and President and CEO of Seattle Fish Company) met in Spanish class in high school. After their paths crossed a couple different times after high school, the couple decided to make it official. James took Meghan on a surprise birthday trip to Maui and continued the surprises with lots of gifts like helicopter rides and massages on the beach. "I had no cause for suspicion when James asked me to walk on the beach before my birthday dinner," Meghan says. "I began walking in the footprints I found in the sand, unknowingly giving James the opportunity he needed to release my hand and station himself near a lava rock. I was a couple steps ahead when James called to me, 'Come here, you have to see this.' I responded, 'Is it a crab?' I walked up to where he was crouched and then it happened. I was overwhelmed with joy, shaking with my jaw dropped and tears streaming down my face. But, I managed to answer his question: 'Meghan, will you marry me?' 'Yes!'" The couple had dinner at Beano's Cabin the previous winter and it was so delicious, they decided to recreate one of their best dining experiences by choosing Beano's for the wedding venue. "It is hard to beat a salad that you saw being picked from the nearby garden moments before it was served," Meghan says. Their 84 guests stayed in Beaver Creek for the weekend getaway complete with a gulf tournament and s'more bonfire. Meghan and James wanted a simple, natural, rustic wedding where they could enjoy the weekend with their closest friends and family. Inspired by the natural landscape, they used neutral colors accented with pink, purple and yellow wildflowers. At the end of the night, they enjoyed a white chocolate mousse cake with fresh raspberries and rustic textured buttercream by Mountain Flour.
