A Casual, Rustic Wedding at a Private Residence in Barnard, Vermont

Although Leah Day (29 and an arts producer) and Greg VanHorn (30 and a finance administrator) live in New York City, they held their wedding on a friend's farm in Barnard, Vermont, two hours from where Leah went to college. Given the farm setting and scenic view of the mountains, the couple went with a rustic, casual theme. Nantucket red, ivory, light pink and textured browns rounded out their color palette and helped bring out the natural vibe the couple was aiming for. Sunflowers added bright pops of yellow throughout the ceremony and reception. Varied, eclectic centerpiece arrangements of curly willow, candles, lanterns, antique vases, and burlap chickens ("Don't ask!" Leah says) surrounded by bright flower arrangements gave each table its own unique look. After a ceremony in a classic New England church in town (changed last minute from an outdoor ceremony because of the rain), everyone enjoyed a cocktail hour in the barn on the grounds. Bistro lights gave the space a romantic, warm glow while guests drank signature cocktails in mason jars and ate bacon-wrapped scallops and a variety of meats and cheeses. A fun standout detail of the cocktail hour: Leah's dad's bluegrass band, the Shepcats, provided the music. (She even sang with them for two songs!) After the cocktail hour, guests followed a path lined with sunflowers and bistro lights to the tented outdoor reception.
