A Casual Outdoor Wedding at Brush Lake in Woodstock, Ohio
Laura Doss (28 and a registered nurse) and Pete Doss (31 and in insurance) got engaged on a road trip to Vermont that both of them had wanted to take. On the way, the couple stopped at Great Barrington, Massachusetts, to hike Berkshire Mountain. Pete proposed at the top overlooking the entire landscape, and so the nine month long engagement began. The couple got married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marysville, Ohio, where Laura went when she was younger and her family still attended. The wedding reception took place at a private lake called Brush Lake, which was owned by a good friend of Pete’s family. “While dating, we had spent many afternoons here picnicking, boating and fishing,” says Laura. “We wanted a casual, rustic reception, and Brush Lake was perfect!” A color palette of blush pink, mint green, ivory and gold was chosen by the couple to incorporate into the wedding decor and accents. Laura’s love for flowers showed through the several centerpieces made of pink, white and peach arrangements, her bouquet made of hydrangeas, garden roses and peonies, and even the wedding invitation booklets with floral designs that were sent out to guests. Their wedding cake was a two-tiered lemon cake covered in white frosting and, of course, accented with fresh flowers and a variety of succulents.
