A Casual Mountain Wedding at a Private Residence in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho
Dakota Guthrie (22 and a dance teacher) and Josh Webb (22 and in health care) met at a local concert in Twin Falls, Idaho, and became engaged two years later. The couple was visiting their favorite spot, a ledge on Snake River Canyon, and taking pictures when Josh pulled out the custom ring. “I just started to cry. I of course said yes!” says Dakota. The couple spent their next eight months planning a casual wedding in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. “Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to get married on my dad’s dock at the campground at my parent’s house. I wanted it to be outdoors, somewhere that people could relax and stay for a while and just have fun,” she says. Black, blue and neutral tones were used to accent the space. Simple black sashes and burlap were tied to every other white folding chair at the ceremony. Dakota and Josh were wed under a black fabric draped arch accented with arrangements of white hydrangea and calla lilies. As they walked back down the handmade dock, the couple and their 150 guests moved directly into the tented reception. Multiple options including a roast pig, baked potato bar, salad bar and a candy bar were awaiting them. After dinner, Dakota and Josh had a few other festivities planned for their guests. “One of our favorite parts of the day was the garter auction - not toss, auction,” says Dakota. “We had a real auctioneer come and auction my garter.” The children were entertained with a bounce house, games and coloring books while the adults took to the couple’s wine bar and campfire. Some also took a few steps around the dance floor. “I saw people dance at my wedding that I would have never guessed and all my guests told me it was the funnest wedding they have ever been to,” says Dakota.
