A Casual, Intimate Wedding at Zambra in Asheville, North Carolina
With a colorful Victorian-style house and lush, textured gardens, it's obvious why Andrew Smith (24 and a sales manager) and Joseph Nunn (36 and a hair stylist and colorist) chose A Bed of Roses Bed and Breakfast in Asheville, North Carolina, for their ceremony. “We chose Asheville because of the location and beauty, but most important because of its LGBT-friendly environment and laws,” Joseph says. “There is not a waiting period for marriage in North Carolina once a couple receive their license.” They kept their ceremony simple, casual and intimate, with only their closest friends and family in attendance. “We did not want the traditional pomp of weddings, which best fits our personalities,” Joseph says. “We wanted our family and closest friends there, and we wanted our day to feel like a family gathering rather than an event.” After their personalized vows and the traditional hand-tying ceremony (with a rainbow ribbon), Andrew and Joseph headed to Zambra for a family-style reception. “The Spanish tapas-inspired restaurant provided just the right amount of private intimacy we desired for us and our guests,” Joseph says. “The dinner was set up outside on their private adjacent patio." Brandy Angel Photography beautifully captured all the day's details—as a wedding present for Andrew and Joseph. “It's not every day you get to capture images that represent something so beautiful and so important,” Brandy says. “I could not be happier or prouder of these two men, who I am lucky enough to call my friends. Their love is truer than most, and their fight to spend heir lives together is brave and inspiring.”
