A Casual Indian-American Wedding at Eventide Brewing in Atlanta, Georgia
Mithila Tople and Jeremy DeJiacomo infused Indian and American traditions into their modern, casual wedding. "We wanted a warm, intimate and fun-filled wedding that reflected both of us, our ideals and the different cultures we grew up in," the couple says. The outdoor ceremony took place against red bricks under a wood arbor. For the reception, wood farm tables, metal chairs and porch lights matched the industrial look of their brewery venue. Succulents were a running theme throughout the wedding as well. "We wanted a lot of green in our flower arrangements with pops of color here and there for contrast," the couple says. "Real succulents were used in the bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces and the arbor. We are replanting those succulents so we can watch them grow after the wedding." Mithila and Jeremy gave coasters as wedding favors, and they also served a mix of American and Indian cuisines, like, tater tots, nachos and wraps with chhole, kheema and spicy paneer. "For dessert we had both gulab jamun and tiramisu," the couple says. They kept the white wedding cake traditional and added subtle chai flavors.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: "Since we were having a mostly American wedding, we wanted to incorporate some parts of Indian cultures into it as well," the couple says. "We had a close friend officiate the ceremony with tweaks to incorporate the mangalsutra ceremony, which is the traditional necklace that the bride wears as a sign of matrimony." The mother of the bride also said blessings in Sanskrit.
