A Casual, DIY Wedding at a Private Residence in Bliestorf, Germany

Diana (37 and a graphic designer) and Caspar (34 and an architect) wanted to get away with their guests for a weekend. "We were looking for a home where our family and friends could stay with us," Diana says. The couple found a private estate owned by a friend in the German countryside that would be perfect for their intimate gathering. When it came to determining their wedding style, Diana and Caspar went with their guts. "We just collected things we liked and arranged them together," Diana says. As a result, their wedding was full of personal DIY details. Because Diana is a graphic designer, she created the wedding stationery herself, from the postcard save-the-dates to the modern-style reception menus. All the flowers for the wedding were picked from the farm next door, including the sunflowers that guests held during the outdoor recessional. Bales of hay were covered in pillows to make up the lounge furniture during cocktail hour. And the long farmhouse table for the reception was lined with vintage accents like mugs and teacups that were topped with various colorful arrangements of zinnias and stock. As a fun touch, Diana and Caspar had their guests sign a variety of postcards with their well wishes instead of a traditional guest book. Plus, they also had a pinata!
