A Casual Country Wedding at Town Ranch in Crested Butte, Colorado

Cassidy Nelson (25, an architect) and Kyle Sanderson’s (27, a civil engineer) parents worked together while attending Western State College. Years later, in 2001, the couple met for the first time during a family spring break trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico, when their parents reunited. Cassidy and Kyle continued to keep in touch and started dating after college. He proposed two days before Christmas on a ski trip in Crested Butte, Colorado. Just nine months later, Crested Butte became the site of their country wedding. Fall’s changing yellow leaves served as a colorful natural backdrop for Cassidy and Kyle’s wedding as hints of brown, blue and yellow were sprinkled throughout their decor. Simple folding chairs and a rustic wooden wedding arch covered in white daisies and baby’s breath were used to decorate the ceremony space. Cassidy and Kyle held a sand mixing ceremony in front of 150 friends and family members before holding cocktail hour of wine, beer and appetizers. All were led to the a white tented reception entrance with strings of white paper lanterns. The space was accented with white linens as well as sunflower and baby’s breath centerpieces. Both flowers were also used as decoration on the couple’s three-tier white wedding cake. Each of Cassidy and Kyle’s guests left with a personalized blue koozie and Cassidy's grandmother’s homemade butter mints.
