A Casual, Bohemian Wedding at The Lautner Compound in Palm Desert, California
Kaylyn Ragsdale and Adam Kakuska’s spring soiree was the perfect blend of bohemian chic and low-key cool. “I wanted our wedding to be unique—trendy, yet fun and casual,” Kaylyn says. “We served Pizza Hut pizza on blue velvet linens, which for us was the perfect mix of ‘Let’s have fun’ yet 'Let’s keep it classy!'” To amplify the event’s personalized feel, the couple DIY’d many of the day’s details themselves, from the velvet table cloths to the copper pizza stands and (with the help of Kaylyn’s dad) the hexagon wedding altar. For the florals, the duo opted for a desert-oasis-inspired aesthetic with palm leaves serving as the focal point for the textured arrangements that dressed up the ceremony and reception spaces. The tablescapes were a feast for the eyes, with metallic geometric terrariums, blue vintage glassware and sleek wooden chargers creating a sense of visual drama. While the newlyweds snapped pictures with their wedding party, a guitarist treated guests to live tunes as they sipped on cocktails. The good times continued after dinner, when Kaylyn, Adam and their family and friends focused on the music. “They could barely pull us off the dance floor to cut the cake!” Kaylyn says.
