A Casual Beach Wedding at the Jupiter Civic Center in Jupiter, Florida
Kristen Deluca (30 and a music teacher) and Kevin Lewis (25 and a dental hygienist) learned of each other through a mutual friend. Through her, the couple exchanged numbers as well as began to talk and text. Weeks later, Kevin came to hear Kristen sing at her church and the pair met for the first time. “I knew very quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of eternity with this man,” says Kristen. Soon after, the couple became engaged on a beach. “Kevin wrapped his arms around me, spun me around, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him,” says Kristen. They were wed a year later. As Kristen and Kevin both lived by the beach and it was the location of Kevin’s proposal, they had a beach ceremony. Green and yellow were chosen for the wedding colors for two reasons: they were Kristen’s favorite colors and represented Jamaica (where Kevin was born), she says. As part of their wedding, the couple physically tied a green and white rope together in a double fisherman’s knot to represent their union. Kristen, Kevin and their 80 guests then moved to the Jupiter Civic Center in Jupiter, Florida, for a cocktail hour complete with reggae music and rum punch. The following indoor reception was decorated with olive green linens, woven chargers and centerpieces of clear and green glass bottles filled with a single yellow tulip. The couple served a buffet dinner and classic white wedding cake with yellow tulip accents for dessert. Each guest left with a personalized box of chocolates as their wedding favors.
