A Casual Beach Wedding at Grand Plaza Beachfront Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Florida

Lizmarie Colon (23 and a hairstylist) and Sam Boshell’s (23 and an electrical engineer) casual blue, red and white wedding was filled with personal details and DIY accents, from the handmade baby’s breath–and-rose bouquets to the sailboat-inspired centerpieces. “With Sam and I living in Orlando, Florida, we wanted to make sure his family in England could make a nice vacation out of flying here,” says Lizmarie. “A beach wedding just felt natural and casual to us both.” Access DJs, Photo & Video documented every detail as the day began with a beach ceremony and ended in a dance party under blue uplighting at Grand Plaza Beachfront Hotel. The couple's photographer kept their guests entertained with a photo booth, music from a DJ and a special song for the bride and groom's first dance. “We worked for months on a silly first dance to 'Home' by Mumford & Sons that had a lot of spins, dips, shoves and giggles. It went great,” says Lizmarie. Inspired by a nautical theme, the couple also had a whimsical dessert display at the reception. Tiers of cupcakes were met with coils upon coils of rope for a fun accent. Each dessert also complemented the couple’s wedding colors with either white, blue or chocolate icing. A single-tier blue-and-white wedding cake decorated with an additional rope detail and gold topper was placed on the final, sixth tier. Lizmarie, Sam and their 60 guests ended the night by taking a few steps across the dance floor before stopping at the venue’s beachfront bar.
