A Casual Beach-Themed Wedding at a Beach House in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Suzette Roblejo (29 and an analyst) and Matthew (Matt) Haygood (29 and an analyst) met during graduate school at Georgetown University and became engaged four years after their first date. He proposed in Spanish on the first day of Spring in Georgetown University’s courtyard. “He told me that going to Georgetown had been a dream for him and that he didn't realize in fulfilling that dream, he also fulfilled another - finding his soulmate,” says Suzette. Within six months, the couple planned a casual wedding accented in yellow, white and pink in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. “We really wanted a very relaxed and laid back wedding. We didn't want people to feel stressed about having to be very formal,” says Suzette. A beach theme was chosen to complement this ideal and their waterfront setting. Suzette and Matt’s ceremony was decorated with simple neutral folding chairs and a bamboo arch accented with draped with ivory fabric and two starfish. After the couple said “I do,” all returned to a rented beach house for their poolside reception. White paper lanterns were hung overhead as the each round table was decorated with white linens, burlap runners and rustic centerpieces filled with the bride’s favorite flower, yellow plumeria. “As much as the day is about us, we recognized it was also about the people in our lives that sustain us and make us who we are so we wanted to honor that,” says Suzette. The couple spent the night dancing under the pergola to a DJ from Bzar Entertainment and visiting each one of their 100 guests. Their friends and family members left the reception with custom potpourri and starfish-filled fan wedding favors made by Suzette's aunt. “The favors were one of my favorite things," says the bride.
