A Bright Yellow Outdoor Wedding at Villa 221 in Miami, Florida
The day after Amanda Deminie (30 and in sales) and Pedro Carvalho (34 and in sales) met at a work event, he texted her, "You're gorgeous, marry me," and continued to propose every day for more than a year. They dated for three years before Pedro formally popped the question on a trip to visit his parents in Brazil. With a two-year-long engagement, the couple had plenty of time to plan a bright yellow and gray outdoor wedding. “Pedro is a little more rustic, and I am a little more modern, so we meshed the two together with the decor,” says Amanda. Wanting to enjoy Florida’s fall weather in a party atmosphere, they chose Villa 221 as the venue. Yellow and gray ribbons hanging from a tree at the head of the aisle flowed in the wind, while yellow pomanders and candles inside silver lanterns filled the ceremony space. After Amanda and Pedro exchanged vows, their live violinist switched to an electric violin and entertained their guests with contemporary music. Curved lounge furniture, gray couches, round yellow-linen-covered reception tables and gray cocktail tables were spread along the venue’s deck. “We wanted there to be plenty of seating, but wanted to encourage the guests to mingle and dance,” says Amanda. All enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres before sampling tapas, Brazilian salgadinhos (or empanadas), pasta, stir fry and assorted cheeses from the couple’s action stations. Amanda and Pedro also treated their guests to a s'mores station, mini cupcakes and yellow-accented candy bar. As their wedding was a few days before Halloween, the couple spent the rest of the night on the dance floor donned in glow necklaces and masquerade masks. “The night was meant to be a celebration and party!” says Amanda.
