A Bright Shabby Chic Wedding at Casa Feliz in Winter Park, Florida

Danielle Feld (26 and a veterinarian) and Jeffrey (Jeff) Kaplan (28 and in sales) met in a fraternity house at the University of Florida and became engaged in Gainesville, Florida. The couple was at a historic restaurant when Jeff surprised Danielle and had her dog come over in a wedding dress costume. “Jeff got down on one knee and it's a blur from there. Our families and close friends came rushing in afterwards for champagne and dinner,” says Danielle. Over the next 18 months, the couple worked with Weddings in the City to plan a sunflower-filled shabby-chic wedding accented in neutral and yellow hues. “The style describes me. I'm simple, yet appreciate subtle beauty in homemade designs,” says Danielle. Within a few weeks, the couple visited Winter Park, Florida for a family party and found their venue, Casa Feliz. Danielle and Jeff had an outdoor ceremony on the museum’s patio decorated with hanging arrangements of white daisies and sunflowers along a brick-lined aisle and a custom embroidered fabric draped huppah made by the bride's father. After they were wed, 120 guests were treated to either “The Doctor's Order,” a cucumber vodka martini, or “The Jeffdude,” a mint mojito, signature drink ?in the carriage house before moving to a tented reception space. Round tables were accented with dark folding chairs, burlap and lace runners, bright sunflower centerpieces tied with personal photos and DIY wooden table numbers. All were treated to a dinner complete with shrimp and grits and chicken lollipops before enjoying the couple’s six flavors of miniature cupcakes - including hot hot hot chocolate and key lime pie. Danielle, Jeff and their guests spent the night on the dance floor to a four-person folk band,The Afterwhile. The couple ended their night with a festive bubble exit. “To be honest, the wedding day was flawless,” says Danielle. “I am so thankful for all of my vendors. If anything went wrong, then I don't know about it.”
