A Bright Summer Wedding at The Garrison in Garrison, New York
Lauren Katz (26 and works in art market sales and strategies) and David Katz (28 and works in digital advertising) planned a vibrant summer wedding with a color palette of brilliant purple hues at The Garrison in Garrison, New York. After a few serious Pinterest sessions, the couple it was important to embrace their own unique sense of style and felt most authentic to them. Understated elegance became the guiding principle for the day’s overall design, bright bunches of fresh, seasonal florals, lanterns with old world charm and warm candlelight bringing to life their vision.
The venue’s panoramic views of the Hudson River and surrounding mountains were one of The Garrison’s main selling points for the pair, and with sunshine in the forecast, an outdoor ceremony was a must. The pair exchanged vows below a whimsical natural wood chuppah draped in a garland of hydrangeas, roses and vines in a traditional Jewish ceremony. “We were going for a look that mixed natural, rustic and romantic, and The Garrison was the perfect place,” says Lauren. “We didn’t need to overdo it on the decor because of the beautiful views.”
A cocktail hour and reception immediately followed in The Garrison’s Hudson Room, a lift-filled space with floor-to-ceiling windows offering unparalleled views of the picturesque landscape. White table linens served as the base for arrangements of vibrant purple florals, tufts of earthy moss and black carriage lanterns brimming with white hydrangeas. Craig Scot Entertainment got guests in the mood to party from the moment the newlyweds entered the room to a rendition of Jackie Wilson’s “Higher and Higher,” while inspired food stations featuring everything from mac n’ cheese to Mediterranean classics went pleased palates left and right, and provided the energy guests needed to break it down on the dance floor all night long.
Guests snapped polaroid pics at the couple’s photo booth when they needed to rest their dancing feet. At the end of the evening, Lauren and David sent guests off a few sweet treats — New York City’s famous Levain cookies. “Everyone raves about these cookies — they are massive and so delicious,” says Lauren. “They were a big hit!”
