A Bright, Relaxed Wedding at D.T. Fleming Beach in Maui, Hawaii

Genevieve Sides (33 and a manager at Starbucks) and Joshua Betancourt (39 and a private wealth portfolio manager) met on Maui while Joshua was on a surf vacation. Genevieve was a local to the area and the two hit it off almost immediately. They spent the rest of his trip together and remained in touch when he returned to Chicago. After traveling back and forth to visit one another, Genevieve finally made the move to Chicago, knowing that Joshua was the one for her. He planned his proposal for their vacation in Miami so he could recreate one of their first nights together in Maui, taking her out for a romantic walk on the beach under the stars. His proposal set the scene for their laid back beach wedding on Maui. Guests gathered around the intimate ceremony on beach mats surrounded by floral arrangements of flowers from Genevieve's family home. The impromptu cocktail party filled with champagne and light snacks gave guests a chance to get to mingle and relax before the reception at Koa's Seaside Grill. The restaurant featured an outdoor seating area under the stars and bright decorations to add a fun and relaxed vibe to the night. Genevieve and Joshua took special care to make sure all of her guests were as comfortable and happy as they were. "Even though we had a really small party, I created a seating chart so that even people who hadn't met before could walk away from the day feeling connected to the people they sat next to... like they were part of our extended family." says Genevieve.
