A Bright, Quirky Wedding at Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield, Michigan
Newlyweds Noel (25 and a lawyer) and John (26 and an automotive engineer) didn't shy away from color while planning their 90-person party at Planterra Conservatory. "I wanted the space to look like a modern yet colorful enchanted forest," Noel says. The pair infused the greenhouse venue with vibrant taper candles, streamers and hot-pink, hand-dyed dinner napkins. The couple exchanged vows under Planterra's existing silk flower arch, then further solidified their union by watering a potted tree they planted the week before the wedding. "As we did that, our officiant read some beautiful remarks about growing together," Noel says. Low eucalyptus and craspedia centerpieces made for seamless conversation among guests. Noel carried a bouquet that included snapdragons, delphinium and ranunculus. Noel balanced out her formal silk organza gown with a bohemian flower crown. Even the food was colorful, especially the couple's watercolor confetti cake, which was served alongside blueberry-peach and banana pie. "We wanted the food to reflect the season without feeling too formal," Noel says. The couple served late-night treats like mini grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies.
