Carlos Lopez (32 and an urban planner) and Daren Capirchio (43 and works in higher education) made the Kimpton Brice Hotel in Savannah, Georgia their own with the help of color. A lot of color. Vibrant blue details, geometric accents and jewel-tone arrangements of thistle, moss and air plants infused Carlos and Daren’s hotel nuptials with a sense of modern individuality. “We wanted a casual yet sophisticated wedding with subtle mid-century undertones,” Carlos says of their design aesthetic. To mark the conclusion of the ceremony, the grooms’ fathers fired confetti cannons into the air as the newlyweds walked back up the aisle to the tune of “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes .Pasta, risotto and empanadas honored the couple’s Cuban and Italian heritage, while Southern favorites like short ribs and grits served as a nod to their Savannah locale. After dinner, Carlos and Daren cut into a mascarpone and strawberry-filled, rum- soaked vanilla cake covered in a pale blue ombre buttercream.
