A Bright DIY Wedding at the Hotel Sofitel (now Sheraton) in Bloomington, Minnesota
Maria (28 and in advertising) and John (28 and a veterinarian) met through mutual friends in college, where, unbeknownst to them, they lived two blocks apart. One night, Maria offered to share a cab back to their neighborhood, and John took the opportunity to ask her out. A few days later, they had their first date at the Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown, Illinois, and they have gone back every year since to celebrate their anniversary. They held their wedding at the Hotel Sofitel (now the Sheraton) in Bloomington, Minnesota, where every almost every detail was a DIY project by the bride. Maria says, “I found almost all of my ideas on Pinterest. I’m not sure what brides did before that was invented. It was a life saver!” From gold embossed programs, to faux flower centerpieces, to a card box made from an old music storage box, their wedding was filled with bright and beautiful decor.
