A Bright Beach Wedding at a Private Residence in Marathon, Florida
Color-loving couple Melanie Holliday (32 and a public insurance adjuster) and Andrew Greenburg (32 and a yacht captain) said their “I dos” on a private beach, surrounded by vibrant hues that expressed their gypsy vibes. “The theme of the wedding is the theme of my life,” Melanie says. “My everyday style in wardrobe and home décor is very colorful and bohemian.” It was important to the couple that a wide range of colors was infused in the ornamentation of the ceremony and reception. Embracing the eye-catching palette of the tropics, the bride clutched a full, overflowing bouquet of blooms, and each bridesmaid wore a bright, multicolored caftan for the ceremony. The flower girl donned a custom-made leafy crown with a pink pineapple on top. While the waterfront locale was the focus of the ceremony, the reception—which took place only a few steps away—was awash with brilliant color. Table runners were splashed with a bold rainbow watercolor pattern, and jeweled chandeliers sparkled overhead. A humorous rhyming sign directed guests to the festive reception area, where they were treated to chicken, pasta and fresh fish from the Florida Keys. “Have food and drinks for guests prior to the ceremony just in case it doesn’t start on time,” Melanie says. “This keeps waiting guests happy.” Before everyone left the party, they were gifted potted orchid plants, which had worked double-duty as décor until that point. “My advice for anyone planning a wedding is to hire a wedding planner to plan the entire event,” Melanie says. “I should have let my planner handle it all so I could have enjoyed everything!”
