A beautiful natural landscape and fun yet elegant décor provided the perfect setting for the nuptials of Chris Treinen, 29, an electrician apprentice, and his bride Melissa Treinen, 27, a registered dietitian. After meeting through a mutual friend in high school, the couple dated for a few years before going their separate ways to college. Several years later, the couple rekindled their relationship and eventually got engaged. They decided to host their celebration at Black Hills Receptions because of its beautiful scenic views of the Black Hills. “Our ceremony was outdoors and we had the hills as part of our back drop, so it was a natural setting,” Melissa says. “Our reception was held in an enclosed tent which I would describe as romantic and elegant with chandeliers and beautiful lighting and decorations inside.” A color palette of guava and mercury helped the bride and groom achieve the perfect balance of fun and sophistication on their special day. “It was fun to decorate with these two colors as the guava is bright and added color to the reception decor whereas the mercury added an elegant touch,” Melissa says. Fun personal details were also incorporated into the celebration, such as a “Bloody Mary Garden” at the cocktail hour and a biking cake topper.

"My wedding dress was simple, yet elegant and classic," the bride says. "It had just enough sparkle and bedazzle for my personality."
