A Botanical, European-Inspired Wedding at the Oxford Community Arts Center in Ohio

A century-old stone chapel on Miami University’s Western Campus set the stage for Cody Weisbrodt (29 and an attorney) and Zach Hyndman’s (28 and a market research manager) midsummer nuptials. The well-traveled pair—who first met while studying abroad in Europe—looked to a travel-themed design, outfitting the Oxford Community Arts Center with candlesticks, vintage books, antique votives and table names borrowed from Luxembourg towns. “We incorporated simple European elements since we met and fell in love while traveling,” Cody says. “Some of our first dates were in Rome and Florence, so we wanted subtle details that spoke to our story.” Cody and Zach accessorized with fragrant rosemary wreaths in lieu of traditional single-bloom boutonnieres.
The pair put their own twist on tradition by escorting each other down the aisle, where they lit a unity candle at the altar to signify their commitment. Once the reception was underway, the couple cut into a lemon-and-blueberry-flavored buttercream cake and later sent family and friends home with seed packet favors that read “Let Love Grow.” “We both enjoy gardening, and we wanted to gift something our guests wouldn’t just throw away,” Cody says.
