Relaxing in the Georgia countryside under the stars with 110 of your closest friends and family members sounds too good to be true, but Madelyn Kowal (22 and an accountant) and Joseph Ferguson (24 and a personal trainer) made it happen for their wedding. Diastole Farms in Concord, Georgia, set the scene with acres of lush fields, a tranquil lake, an old train depot and a quaint guesthouse large enough for Madelyn and Joseph’s wedding party, so everyone could begin the day on a laid-back note. Wedding planner Eva Clark, owner and founder of Belle of the Ball Events, made the planning process a breeze and ensured Madelyn and Joseph got hitched without a hitch. Madelyn and Joseph brought their own bohemian flair to this slice of Southern charm with warm, deep hues of eggplant purple and dark green and a host of eclectic decor, including agates and candles. Their day unfolded with an alfresco ceremony, where Madelyn and Joseph said “I do” under a large tree enhanced with a crystal chandelier. After a group toast, the cocktail hour continued next to the train depot, followed by a tented reception. Amy Osaba Events incorporated organic, wildflower-like floral arrangements along the rustic wooden farm tables, along with a boho flower crown and a hand-tied bouquet for Madelyn. One detail not to miss? Blooming Flour Bakery created a gorgeous all-white cake that’s crawling with vines and flowers, embellished with a splash of gold. Madelyn envisioned a dress that embodied her bohemian style. She worked with designer Shelly Brown to create a flowing neoprene and silk chiffon gown with a high neckline balanced by an open back, which she embellished with a double silver belt.
Agate decor took the natural theme one step further with gold borders and gold calligraphed quotes on the rich blue surface. This agate, beside Madelyn and Joseph's cake, read "I have found the one whom my soul loves."
Madelyn carried an overflowing bouquet of organic blooms, incorporating hues of rich purple and pink. Her asymmetrical arrangement included peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, stock and wildflowers, hand-tied with a cascading ivory ribbon that swept the ground.
Madelyn and Joseph had custom leather invitations printed by Southern Hide. The design by Myrtle and Lloyd started with the newlyweds' custom monogram surrounded by antlers and a laurel, with whimsical calligraphy paired with modern print.
Madelyn wore her hair in loose curls and beachy waves. A leafy laurel with a few white blooms topped off her bohemian style.
Before "I do," a gold-framed chalkboard greeted guests with a message: "Grab a drink, head to the tree. Raise your glass to Joe and me!" At the end of the ceremony, everyone joined in a toast to the newlyweds.
The bridesmaids wore infinity convertible dresses in a rich blue hue, which allowed them to customize their styles. They also selected their jewelry—matching crystal bangles—from Shelly Brown, and carried hand-tied bouquets in shades of rich red, pink and green.
Madelyn and Joseph exchanged their vows under a tree wrapped with greenery and florals. A chandelier overhead and a vintage rug under them created a romantic, boho niche. Their guests sat lakeside in vintage wooden church pews.
Madelyn and Joseph's custom monogram, inspired the stationery design, and also appeared on their cocktail napkins. The metallic gold design includes their initials in calligraphy surrounded by a natural laurel of antlers and flowers.
Just a short walk from the ceremony, the reception tent provided some shade for the alfresco reception at Diastole Farms in Concord, Georgia. Guests enjoyed a seated meal before dancing the night away.
Unlimited Party & Event Rental provided gold chiavari chairs to contrast the rustic wooden farm dining tables. Sprigs of greenery decorated the black and gold "bride" and "groom" signs on the backs of Madelyn and Joseph's chairs.
Eclectic agate table numbers inscribed with gold calligraphy adorned each dining table. Gold mercury glass votives continued the glam pop of color.
A deep purple leather escort card tucked around each place setting, calligraphed in gold by Myrtle and Lloyd. The dinnerware included a white plate anchored by a gold charger, with gold flatware that stood out from the rustic wooden farm table.
Gold mercury glass vases overflowing with textured blooms in rich hues livened the rustic wooden farm table. Tall gold candlesticks and low amber crystal tea candleholders continued the warm color theme.
We can't get over how perfectly this pretty white cake fit Madelyn and Joseph's style. The purple flowers and vines tie into the natural setting, and the splashes of metallic gold, copper and silver amp up the sparkle. The ceramic white lovebird cake topper just looks like another tier of the four-tier confection atop a gold cake stand and glittery gold tablecloth. Blooming Four Bakery spared no detail!
With a charming guesthouse, a historic train depot and a tranquil lake settled on acres of lush Georgia countryside, it's no wonder Madelyn and Joseph fell for Diastole Farms in Concord, Georgia. Plus, the history of the farms is a love story itself.
