A Boho Beach Wedding at Sunset Restaurant in Malibu, California

Gwynne Crowley (35 and a freelance producer) and David Lowrie-Reed (40 and in marketing) exchanged vows under a dream catcher wedding arch on the sand outside Sunset Restaurant in Malibu, California. “We love the beach and often spend many special occasions with our toes in the sand,” Gwynne says. “I wanted a boho beach wedding with rich orange sunset colors in the flowers,” Gwynne says. “The Sunset Restaurant was the perfect location because we were able to have our ceremony right on the beach at sunset.” The couple exchanged vows under a simple wooden arch adorned with roses and a dream catcher. “Having the Pacific Ocean just beyond our beautiful dream catcher arch was just magical,” Gwynne says. Afterward, the newlyweds hosted their 75 guests at Sunset Restaurant, a few steps from the ceremony site. “Our wedding venue was also a restaurant, so our guests could enjoy their meal along with the ocean view,” Gwynne says. “The best advice I could give would be to go with your gut. "I wanted a boho beach wedding with rich orange sunset colors in the flowers,” says Gwynne, whose florist, The Little Branch, created a fiery peach and ivory bouquet from garden roses.
"Shortly after Dave proposed to me, my mother came to town to visit," Gwynne says. "We were out shopping, and I stumbled on these beautiful handmade dream catchers. I knew I had to incorporate them into my wedding."
A sturdy white platform aisle lined with lanterns led to the dream catcher wedding arch where Gwynne and David exchanged vows. "I wanted a boho beach wedding with rich orange sunset colors in the flowers,” Gwynne says. “The Sunset Restaurant was the perfect location because we were able to have our ceremony right on the beach at sunset.”
"We wanted our bridal party to be comfortable, so we decided on white linen dresses from Free People for the bridesmaids and a similar look for the groomsmen with an accented gray tweed blazer," Gwynne says.
Gwynne and David said their vows under a simple wooden arch decorated with bright orange rose blossoms and a dream catcher.
"We love Knob Creek bourbon and wanted to kick off the cocktail hour with individual mini bottles," Gwynne says.
Gwynne and David hosted their 75 guests at Sunset Restaurant in Malibu, California, a few steps from the ceremony site. “Our wedding venue was also a restaurant, so our guests could enjoy their meal along with the ocean view,” Gwynne says.
"Our reception decor had more of a desert-boho vibe," Gwynne says. "It was an eclectic combination of vintage bud vases and olive wood branches with copper and gold votives."
Sweet and Saucy Shop of Long Beach, California, created Gwynne and David's naked wedding cake, topping it with fresh fruit and orange blooms. Guests also dug in to a variety of mini pies and brownies.
