A Bohemian Farm Wedding at Dirtworks Farm in Johns Island, South Carolina

Nikki Seibert (31 and the director of sustainable agriculture for Lowcountry Local First) and Daniel Kelley's (30 and manager for Trek Bicycles) bohemian vision came to life at Dirtworks Farm in Johns Island, South Carolina. With a secluded waterfront ceremony along the Bohicket Creek, Nikki and Daniel were able to enjoy their "I Dos" in front of their closest friends and family. As Nikki walked down the aisle surrounded by oak trees and Spanish moss, one of her dearest friends played "Is This Love" by Bob Marley on an acoustic guitar with a harmonica. "Daniel and I love the outdoors and wanted to create a laid-back environment for friends and family to celebrate, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the Low Country," Nikki says. She gracefully waltzed down the aisle in a J.Crew mint green floor-length dress, breaking all wedding fashion traditions. She paired her gown with Toms wedges in a striped green and white zig-zag print and a handmade necklace. Made of a pinecone, a bit of lace, a crystal and a brass antler, Nikki completely emulated her vintage bohemian theme. Compost in My Shoe transformed each flower arrangement using wildflowers picked from the farm property; they brought the ceremony and reception space to life with muted blues, greens, purples, corals and yellows. "The whole day was a reflection of our loving, playful, down-to-earth relationship. There was a strong focus on supporting the amazing local businesses and farmers that I work with, as well as sharing the culture and landscape of the Low Country."

The wedding bouquet was arranged by Compost in My Shoe, using all wildflowers from the property. Muted blues, greens, purples, corals, and yellow tones filled the reception space through the floral arrangements and decorations. The natural aura of the bouquet paired beautifully with Nikki's J.Crew mint green wedding dress.
Throwing tradition out the window, Nikki wore a J.Crew mint green floor-length wedding dress. Her sash was handmade with ribbon, burlap, feathers, and an antique accent. She paired it with Toms wedges in a green and white zig-zag print with a strappy heel, tying together the bohemian theme.
Little hints of bicycles were seen throughout the decorations of the ceremony and reception site. A bicycle wheel made up the center of the arch, which was adorned with wildflowers for the ceremony, and at the end of their reception, the bride and groom rode off on a tandem bike.
Nikki's necklace was a handmade mixture of natural elements, including a brass antler, crystal, a bit of lace, and a pinecone. She accessorized her ensemble with vintage pearl earrings from her grandmother. These vintage chic accessories perfectly tied together her bohemian theme. Plus, the necklace was DIY.
Wooden Ceremony Fans
"One of my dear friends played an acoustic version of 'Is This Love' by Bob Marley as my processional while guests sat in a warm breeze in white chairs under the shade of the oak trees and Spanish moss," Nikki says. Nikki's dear fiend also accompanied his acoustic guitar with a harmonica.
The outdoor wedding ceremony was held at a secluded waterfront property along the Bohicket Creek on Johns Island, South Carolina. "We had a simple set-up with live oaks surrounding us, the marsh behind us, and a small number of friends and family there to share it," Nikki says.
Instead of having a wedding party, Nikki and Daniel had their two dogs as their bridesmaids. While Daniel's outfit was simple with a white button-up, suspenders, slacks and vintage loafers, their dogs went au naturel in their black-and-white fur as they walked down the aisle.
The floral arrangements for the centerpieces were created from the same fresh flowers picked from the farm property. The centerpieces were paired with mason jar candles decorated with bicycle charms. The light from the candle really made the bright colors of the wildflowers shine throughout the rustic barn.
Ribbon- and Yarn-Wrapped Silverware
Nikki and Daniel gave their guests packets of wildflower mix, native to the South Carolina Low Country, which was once known for their agricultural wealth and prosperity. Each packet was labeled with a personalized logo telling their guests to "let love bloom" and was decorated with a blue yarn bow.
"We kicked off the afternoon with a first-dance song to the Talking Heads' 'This Must Be the Place,' to which Daniel twirled me, dipped me, and hooked me with his fishing line," Nikki says. "We were sent off with bubbles with the Lumineers' 'Ho Hey,' drifting out the barn doors as we rode off on a tandem bicycle."
