Earthy, charming and rustic were three requirements for Amanda DePolo (27 and a fabric developer and colorist) and Matthew Kelly (27 and self-employed), who booked a rural barn for their “enchanted bohemian” fete. “We both marveled at the space,” Amanda says. “It had great energy and food offerings.” Shades of crimson, burnt orange, oat and green were the primary focus of the design, along with whimsical feather accents and fringed linens. Amanda clutched a bouquet wrapped in tea-stained lace for a look that matched her ethereal gown. Prior to their wedding day, Matthew contacted a birds of prey sanctuary in order to surprise Amanda with an hour-long visit from two owls named Spook and Warlock. “I’ll never forget the moment when I opened my eyes and saw them for the first time,” Amanda says. “It was perfect.” In search of a festive fall cake flavor that didn’t focus on pumpkin, the couple instead served slices of classic carrot cake for dessert. Once the celebration came to a close, the newlyweds took a traditional approach to their grand exit by boarding a flight to Costa Rica the very same night as their nuptials.
