A Bohemian Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Milton, Georgia

After a six-year engagement and the birth of their son, Levi, Beth Capel (29) and Dayn Kelley (29 and a global operations manager) chose to wed at a place where everyone would be comfortable: her parents’ backyard. They created a dreamy boho fete that felt like home, filled with flowers, greenery, crystals and vintage votives. A highlight of the outdoor ceremony was their two-year-old, who dashed down the aisle with the ring pillow in one hand and a cookie in the other. The reception was just as lively, with 90 rowdy guests hitting the dance floor, accompanied by a live band. “My favorite part of the night was the French fry bar with unique dips,” Beth says. “I think everyone should have something to eat after all that dancing!” Guests devoured tiers of lemon drop, salty caramel and white cake frosted with buttercream. For their original vows, the couple stood on a vintage kilim rug surrounded by cacti, ferns and a wicker chair from their home. Beth used her own houseplants throughout the décor. She wore a peach ranunculus crown and carried peonies, blue thistle, tulips and ferns. The newlyweds chose an untraditional recessional: “Love you Madly” by Cake. The horticultural theme carried into the favors: packets of rosemary, chive, basil, thyme or mint seeds. Beth bought a $1 dictionary at Goodwill and tore out her favorite pages to use as wrapping paper. “It was super fun to do!” Beth says. She stamped each with the name of the herb inside. At the head table, wire-and-twine pendants hung over a macramé runner and clusters of peonies, tulips, ferns and hellebores.
