A Blue and Orange Playful Wedding at Toledo Zoo in Toledo, Ohio

All that Alicia Paree (29 and a restaurant manager) and Ryan Paree (27 and a law grad) wanted was a nontraditional wedding, and since they shared a love for the zoo and had family from Toledo, Ohio, having their wedding at the Toledo Zoo only made sense. "On a whim, before we were even engaged, we went to talk to the Toledo Zoo about their wedding package," Alicia and Ryan says. "We were so impressed by them that we set it up right then." Alicia had always loved the combination of orange and turquoise, so their palette was an easy choice. Alicia, Ryan and their wedding party wore the palette on their sleeves—from the bright blue ties that matched the bridesmaid dresses to Alicia's orange shoes with crystal accents and Ryan's orange vest and tie—captured on camera by Blue Martini Photography. The reception was inside the lodge, where guests sat at dining tables decorated with orange wildflowers arranged inside tall circular vases.  Our favorite part was the white and orange wedding cake accented with fresh calla lilies. The cake was not only almost too beautiful to eat, but the Pikachu figurine toppers showed off Alicia and Ryan's silly personalities. "The biggest surprise during the reception might have been during the cake cutting," Alicia and Ryan says. "We told the DJ that it was his choice, and he knew that we were both pretty nerdy, so he played an awesome take on the Pokemon theme song."
