A Black-Tie Vineyard Wedding at Domaine Chandon in Yountville, California
With so many venues in Napa Valley, California, it wasn't easy for Brittany Bell (28) and Greg Shepard (28 and a captain in the US Navy) to pick a location for their formal, black-tie wedding. But once they saw the great oak trees, lush green lawn and pond with a bridge, the couple knew Domaine Chandon in Yountville, California, was the place where they would say "I do." "I frequently visited Napa with my family growing up, and then Greg and I went there several times while dating," Brittany says. "We love everything about Napa—the wine, the food, the vibe. It’s our happy place." The couple wanted a formal style for their wedding, combined with a garden feel from the landscape, and achieved this using a classic palette of white, navy blue, silver and black, captured on camera by Verite Boutique Photographers. Guests were given a peek into the elegant wedding through the white and navy invitations written in swirled, cursive font. The ceremony took place on the venue's grand lawn, where boxwood hedges lined the aisle covered in ivory petals leading to the altar, thanks to the assistance of SugarRush Event Design. The outdoor ceremony space and tented reception was decked out with hydrangeas, roses and peonies in different hues of white—from the the flower arrangements perched on white pillars to the lush centerpieces in tall glass vases on dining tables. Regardless of all the beautiful, natural decor following the formal color palette, we couldn't keep our eyes off Brittany's dress—an Oscar de la Renta ivory wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline and a ball-gown skirt—that seemed to embody the day's romance. "It's soft and romantic," Brittany says. "The garden-inspired appliques fit the venue perfectly, while the formal ball-gown shape fit with our black-tie evening."
