For Lindsay, the love she had been looking for had been right before her eyes. “We worked together. Literally 10 feet apart!” she says. After some casual flirting with coworker Scot, they eventually went out to dinner and stayed up all night talking. They had been dating for two years when Lindsay realized things were about to get even more serious. The Bride Lindsay Burrus, 26, banker The Groom Scot Mitchell, 27, banker The Date May 30 But Scot still managed to surprise her during a “spontaneous” trip to Asheville to admire the changing leaves one October weekend. After a day of hiking and shopping, the couple stopped at a bench overlooking the picturesque mountains, and Scot pulled out a ring. Lindsay was so excited; she smacked him on the arm!

Taupe table linens, rattan chargers, and white napkins topped the tables.
The bride and groom spent months learning the Fox Trot to Van Morrison’s “Someone Like You.”
To achieve a clean look, white flowers like hydrangeas, tulips, and peonies were arranged separately in low-lying vases.
Beach Walk
Clusters of tall glass cylinders filled with white starfish continued the beachside ambience beneath the reception tent.
A beautiful ocean view set the scene for the ceremony. Lindsay and Scot exchanged vows in front of a large cross made of driftwood.
Lots of peonies and roses were used for a full, romantic bouquet. Lindsay wrapped the stems with one of her grandmother’s handkerchiefs.
For a modern twist on the traditional cake, each tier was a different height and wrapped in ribbon. Fresh peonies topped the confection.
Lindsay and Scot shared their love of wine with guests. They filled decanters with two of their favorites: red wine from Sicily and a white wine from Chili. “Instead of going to the bar for another drink, guests were able to fill their glass directly from the decanters, family-style.”
