Lynette Robinson (30, in the government) and Tim Clarke (29, avionics engineer) met while they were both working at the Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium in Australia, and dated for seven years before Tim proposed on a weekend trip to the Mornington Peninsula. “We had romantic picnic lunch on the beach and when I turned to leave he was down on one knee asking me to marry him,” says Lynette. “Tim proposed with his grandmother’s engagement ring, a beautiful Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 16 diamonds, which was very similar to Princess Diana's ring.” The couple decided to have a destination wedding at the private Olowalu Plantation in Maui, Hawaii, which had a deep history and surrounding beauty with the beach setting and rows of palm trees. It only made sense that the couple went with a beach theme due to the natural decorations and backdrop combined with their white and sea blue color palette. The couple kept their guest list small and surrounded themselves with close loved ones to have a stress-free wedding day, focusing on their love for one another.

"My bouquet was designed by Lois Hiranaga Floral Design, and was a mixture of blush roses, cymbidium and phalaenopsis orchids," says Lynette. "Our bridesmaids held bunches of white hydrangeas."
“The silk flowers embroidered on my wedding gown corset added to our natural theme,” says Lynette. “I wore phalaenopsis orchids in my hair with Anna Campbell and Samantha Wills accessories.” The bride wore dress designed by Monique Lhuillier.
The groom wore a white phalaenopsis boutonniere pinned onto his black suit jacket, which was from Hugo Boss.
“We chose to have our ceremony at Olowalu Plantation, a private location,” says Lynette. “Olowalu has a beautiful historic beach home and immense natural beauty with leaning rows of palm trees and white coral beach. The great weather, stunning scenery and laid-back vibe made for a perfect wedding.”
White Paper Parasols at Wedding Ceremony
Our aisle was laid with white orchids and guests were given lace paper cones of white orchids to throw in celebration,” says Lynette. “Each guest was given a palm leaf fan on their chair to keep cool.”
Palm leaf fans that were given to each guest at the ceremony were decorated with aqua blue ribbon and a starfish. A wedding program was placed in the middle, which was white paper decorated with blue text and wave design.
Shell Blowing at Wedding Ceremony
"We exchanged leis as part of our ceremony, where the bride was given a scented tuberose lei and the groom arntiki leaf and tuberose lei," says Lynette.
“Bridesmaids wore an elegant long gown in sea blue and were given pearls as a gift on the day to go with the beach theme,” says Lynette. The best man wore a black tuxedo with an aqua blue tie.
