A Beach, "Star Wars" Themed Wedding at Kualoa Ranch in Kaneohe, Hawaii
Karie Spaet (36, an information technology professional) and Marc Sevigny (30, a Navy corpsman) were introduced around Christmas time by a mutual friend and kissed under the mistletoe by the end of the first time they met. Marc was on leave in the Navy and the couple continued to maintain a relationship from a distance. Once he returned, Marc proposed to Karie after a sunset dinner on a gorgeous beach in Hawaii. The memory of when they got engaged served as inspiration to have their beach themed wedding. The wedding ceremony took place on a secret island on the Kualoa Ranch in Kaneohe, Hawaii and the reception was at Hale Molii located on the same property. The color palette was based off the blues and greens of beaches in Hawaii, keeping the flowers and decor simply white to not take away from the natural elements. Marc loved the "Star Wars" series, so Karie surprised him by incorporating the theme into their wedding day. Karie had her hair done in braids that could pass as a resemblance to Princess Leia and centerpieces on dining tables were Legos depicting scenes from different episodes. Even the photo booth had Star Wars themed props, ranging from a life-sized R2D2 to light sabers! “Our wedding was full of so many special touches and details that reflected us, from the "Star Wars" cuff links to the engravings on our rings and the picture charms on the bridesmaids bouquets,” says Karie. “We had the best party!”
