A Beach Destination Wedding at Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Sarah and Eric combined traditional flair with beachside ambience for their destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. “It’s one of our favorite vacation destinations,” says Sarah. “The weather is always warm, and the people are happy.” What could be better? Since they got married in Mexico, Sarah and Eric engraved “Mi Amor” on both of their wedding rings. The couple gave their guests hospitality bags upon their arrival to Mexico, equipped with sunscreen, koozies, necessities and fun Mexican souvenirs the couple found while touring. To maintain tradition, the couple had a Catholic wedding ceremony at a waterfront church at Capilla de Nuestra Senora del Carmen. According to the bride, this is when one of the most memorable parts of the day occurred: “Our priest wanted to take a selfie with us during the ceremony! Everyone laughed!” Afterward, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and reception on the sand at Gran Porto Real, complete with an open beach bar, cigar table, dinner and dancing by the water. The wedding color palette of coral and turquoise contrasted and complemented the beach backdrop and created a lighthearted atmosphere at the intimate celebration. The couple stayed in Mexico longer than their friends and family to celebrate their honeymoon.
