A Bavarian Ski-Themed Wedding at Snowbird in Salt Lake City, Utah

Katie and Chris Scheuch chose an antique Bavarian ski lodge wedding theme, honoring both their German heritages and love of skiing, for their picturesque ceremony overlooking the mountains of Utah. “We wanted to embrace the natural beauty of the venue,” the bride says. “The aisle was lined with stumps and lanterns, and there was an arbor wrapped in hops and greenery.” Katie wore an elegant boatneck dress with a train and buttons down the back, which she paired with a cascading bouquet of hops, greenery and in-season autumnal flowers. Chris opted for a gray suit, and the ring bearers sported traditional Bavarian attire. The reception took place in a ski lodge, where each table held rustic floral arrangements in antique ski boots, lanterns, wood chargers and pinecones. To end the night, Katie donned a fur stole that has been in her family since the 1920s, and guests dug into a cake with intricate frosting details. Guests went home with scarves hand-knitted by the bride's mother.

Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: The bride and groom, and the bride and her dad, took months of dance lessons. “We had our routines down, but dancing in front of guests and in the wedding dress for the first and only time was very nerve racking,” Katie says. “Both dances went well, but I was glad when it was over.”
