A Backyard Shabby-Chic Wedding at a Private Residence in Peoria, Arizona

Mickey Mouse means more than nostalgia to Tessa Kay (24 and in public relations) and Kevin Woollam (26 and a student and server). On their first trip to Disneyland, they said their first “I love yous,” and since then, they have been to Disneyland together more times than they can count. Naturally, when they decided to get married, Mickey and Minnie Mouse were on top of their wedding cake! Tessa and Kevin tied the knot in Kevin’s parents’ backyard in Peoria, Arizona. “Kevin’s father said it has been his dream for us to get married there, so that sealed the deal,” says Tessa. The couple exchanged their vows under a whimsical floral arch of blush and ivory roses and hydrangeas, and even incorporated a foot-washing tradition into their ceremony. “We felt like this was very significant to who we are and our dedication to each other,” says Tessa. Their reception was shabby-chic, with vintage furniture and family photos creating a rustic, laid-back and homey atmosphere. Guests dined on delicious Italian cuisine as the DJ played light music, and to top off the night, the newlyweds cut into their special wedding cake by Baker Wee Bakery. To future couples, Tessa says: “Enjoy your special day! In the end, you are married to the one you love!” See the sweet details captured by KolorPHX Photography, below.
