A Backyard Farm Wedding in New Bern, North Carolina

When Robert, 23, proposed to Kasi, 23 at his family farm, it wasn't the first time he had chosen that spot to ask her an important question. "In 2007, after our junior year of high school, we finally noticed each other and he asked me to be his girlfriend after making dinner in a small house at the back of his parent's property," says Kasi. "Fast forward five years later and he cooked the exact same meal before asking me to be his wife!" With a summer date set, the couple planned a country-inspired backyard wedding at the meaningful property with a teal and yellow color palette. Robert's father planted a ring of yellow sunflowers that encircled the ceremony site and Kasi worked to DIY every aspect of her rustic day from the flower arrangements to the home-cooked dinner. Additional decor included hay bails covered with handmade quilts for outdoor seating along with peacock feathers and fresh sunflower accents. "I was going for country-chic and I liked that combing sunflowers and peacock feathers was something different," says "I tried to make these details subtle enough so they wouldn't clash and utilized mason jars as well as other country elements that we already had."
