A Backyard DIY Wedding at the Riedel Farm Estate in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Kendal Dudek (25 and a designer) and Dan Payne (27 and a police officer) met through mutual friends in the Fall of 2008. It was love at first sight, but the timing was not right. They remained friends and talked often while Dan was deployed in Iraq. However, when Dan returned in Spring of 2010, their dreams of dating became reality. In June 2012, the couple moved to Minneapolis when Kendal received an offer to be a designer at Target. New Years Day of 2013, Dan prepared a romantic steak dinner for Kendal. Totally oblivious to his plan, she was shocked when he proposed in the middle of their candle lit evening with a princess cut diamond in a halo setting. Wanting a destination getaway for their guests, Kendal and Dan chose to tie the knot at the Riedel Farm Estate, a beautiful 19th century home that features a sprawling yard, gazebo, and patio. Kendal was the spotlight of her wedding day in a strapless fit and flare dress with lace overlay. The bridesmaids carried through the color scheme of mint, peach, and gold through their dresses and bouquets. As a special touch, Kendal ordered the white hydrangeas, peach carnations, and baby's breath online and arranged each bouquet and centerpiece herself the morning of the big day. With fantastic food and a variety of desserts for the guests, the night ended with a slippery gazebo from a rain storm that brought fun and laughter as the newlyweds and their guests danced in the rain. "With only 50 people at our wedding, we had our closest friends and families to celebrate with us. Family is so important to us both, so this was the most special part of the day," says Kendal.
