Leah Neidhart (33, director of recruiting) and Josey Neidhart (30, a web developer) dated for about three and a half years when they got engaged, and they chose the date of Leah’s grandmother’s birthdays to have their wedding on. The couple knew they wanted to have a summer wedding with a outside ceremony, so they chose Leah’s favorite park overlooking a lake in her hometown of Seville, Ohio. Leah wore an ivory wedding dress designed by Wtoo, and removed the train from the dress to make it more casual for the outdoor occasion. Josey and his groomsmen all wore tan suits while the bridesmaids picked out their own dresses to make the decision more stress-free and enjoyable. The reception followed shortly after and took place at Leah’s parents house, where they had custom-made syrups for alcoholic beverages at the bar and a barbeque-themed menu. The couple chose a vintage garden wedding theme for the celebration and created one-of-a-kind DIY accents and decorations, from the vintage wallpaper table numbers to burlap tablecloths purchased from a supplier that were customized to fit each table. Even the arbor that the couple was married under was custom-built by the groom, with the help of Leah’s father and brother! “Our decor was very much us,” says Josey. “It included all the things we love and it was created by us, so I don't know of a better reflection than that.”

“Our ceremony was amazing,” says Leah. “One of my close friends officiated, and it just made the ceremony so much more special to have her marry us since she was there from the beginning of our relationship.”

“We knew that we were getting married outside during the summer, so we wanted our bridal party to be comfortable,” says Leah. “The ladies picked their own dresses and the guys went with tan suits. The dress I wore was actually the second one I bought. After purchasing the first one, I couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't right. I keep browsing until I found the dress! I was able to save and bought it from another bride that had the same issue. I loved the dress I wore. It was a Wtoo and I had the train removed since we would be outside.”
“I found a burlap supplier that sold 72-inch bolts of burlap, then cut and frayed my table topper squares to size,” says Leah. “I had the look of the burlap that I wanted, but a more affordable solution.”
“When Josey and I got engaged, I knew that we would have a wedding filled with DIY projects,” says Leah. “I love design and couldn’t wait to get started. I spent countless hours scouring Pinterest and the Knot to look for my inspiration. We both love antiques, and so we decided on a vintage garden theme.”
“The reception was at my parent’s home and so much fun,” says Leah. “We wanted our guests to enjoy themselves and feel like a part of our family." They set up a white tent in the backyard, with dining tables and a dance floor underneath.
“I found a vintage wallpaper that I loved, so I had the image shrunk down and made into fabric that I used,” says Leah. “One of my favorite projects was my table numbers. My friend made stencils on Freezer paper using a Cricut. Then I just ironed them onto the fabric and stenciled on the number with fabric paint., trimmed the fabric and put it in an embroidery hoop.”
A garland embellished with anemones, roses and dahlias decorated the bride and groom's chairs at the sweetheart table.
"Our favors were bags of popcorn with my grandfather’s caramel corn recipe," says Leah. "I don’t have any living grandparents and wanted to include their memory in some way. It made our day special to have a piece of them in the wedding."
