501 Union Winter Wedding
Andrew Ford (35 and a lawyer) and Jonathan Escalante (25 and self-employed) maroon, navy and gold palette paired with branch centerpieces and marble accents made for a romantic soiree at the industrial 501 Union.
Textured arrangements containing amaranthus, dahlias, pincushion proteas and calla lilies popped against woodgrain tables set with black flatware and glass bud vases. “We wanted our design to feel more like a high-end cocktail party than a formal wedding,” Jonathan says of their autumn affair.
“We felt a bit weird dictating how our friends should look from head to toe, so we left it up to them,” the couple says of styling their wedding party. Nearly 100 family members and friends flew in for the celebration, and they found their seats thanks to marble tiles that boasted guests’ names in copper block calligraphy.
Canvas totes embroidered with the couple’s hashtag contained various snacks and a hangover relief kit.
Menu highlights included savory Asian fare like Peking duck and kimchi fried rice, and a decadent spread of Levain Bakery cookies and banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery. “The menu was our number one priority,” Jonathan says. “We wanted guests to have a true New York experience, and to us that meant great food.”
